The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

Ira Bernstein, DPM
Dr. Ira Bernstein was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY and raised in Rockland County. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Vertebrate Physiology at Penn State University. The doctor attended the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia where he obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. Dr. Bernstein completed a surgical residency in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida. The doctor is Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Bernstein is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the New York Podiatric Medical Association. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. The doctor is an attending physician at Good Samaritan Hospital, Nyack Hospital, and Saddle River Valley Surgical Center. He is an active part of the Wound Care Center at Nyack Hospital and past Director.

Dr. Laura Piluso
Dr. Laura Piluso has been practicing podiatry in New York for the last 11 years. She received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1996. Her undergraduate degree was obtained from Pace University in New York. Dr. Piluso finished her residency in 1997 and has achieved Diplomat status as well as being Board Certified. She is a Fellow of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and Orthopedics. She has worked in Westchester, Orange and now Rockland counties in New York and also has her New Jersey Podiatry license. She is affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital for the last 4 years and Nyack Hospital as well. Dr. Piluso also does surgery at a surgical center in New Jersey. She has active membership in state and national podiatric associations in addition to diabetic and wound care associations. She practices well rounded podiatric medicine but specializes in geriatrics and pediatric foot and ankle pathologies. Dr. Piluso resides in Orange County, New York with her husband and two daughters.

Dr. Marc Berman
Dr. Berman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology at Binghamton University. He attended the New York College of Podiatric Medicine where he obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. The doctor completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey. He received extensive surgical training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery including trauma surgery and diabetic limb salvage.

The doctor is Board Qualified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Berman is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr Berman has privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital, Nyack Hospital, and Saddle River Valley Surgical Center.

Dr.  Steven A. Bernstein

Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, Dr. Steven A. Bernstein has over 20 years of practice experience. He has extensive experience specializing in surgery of the Ankle and Leg.  He has published many articles and has trained many Podiatric Surgeons.  Dr. Steven Bernstein recieved his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, now known as Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia.  He recieved his residency training at Golden Glades Regional Medical Center in Miami, Florida and completed a fellowship afterwards in Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery of the Foot, Ankle, and Leg.  Thereafter Dr. Bernstein joined the Aventura Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Miami specializing in foot, ankle, and leg reconstructive procedures.  Notably operating on patients that have failed surgeries perviously on Foot, Ankle, and Leg due to both elective and traumatic injuries and procedures. We welcomed Dr. Bernstein to Rockland Podiatry in December, 2011.
